Description:
Fourth in the YCAT series to discover young talent! Accordion version of "Golteberg Variations"! 2019 YCAT International Audition Winner! The brilliant Italian accordionist Samuele Terrari will perform the Goltberg Variations! The fourth installment of the series features accordion prodigy Samuele Terrari, a native of Spoleto, Italy, winner of the 2019 YCAT International Auditions and an internationally acclaimed YCAT artist! Samuele Terrari has previously won first prize at the 2018 Arassate-Hiria International Accordion Competition (Spain) and the 2013 'Citta di Castelfidardo' International Competition (Italy). His repertoire ranges from original works for accordion (Gubaidulina, Donatoni, Mantovani, Berio, etc.) to transcriptions of works by Bach, Mussorgsky, Ligeti, Schubert and others. Having performed Bach's "Goltberg Variations" in concert many times before, Terrari tackled this album when he was finally able to complete it in a recorded version. Terrari's instrumentation is essential in conceiving this kaleidoscopic and always fresh work. The bellows of the accordion emphasize dynamic contrasts in the slow variations, and the pure, flowing virtuosity of the sparkling, fast variations is a force to be reckoned with. Bach's timeless masterpiece shines in a new light here, with keyboard dexterity and string-like expressiveness enhanced by the subtlety and perfect control of Terrari's interpretation. Tokyo M-Plus
