An Evolutionary Music
Description:
After the reissue of "OSMOSE", an important work of electronic ambient music, "BATHING" was released in 1978, a collection of almost unreleased sound sources has been unearthed and released on 2CD/2LP!The sound artist, who studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and later worked in the world of stage music and was also a member of the French progressive band HELDON, is the pride of France, and like TERRY RILEY, LA MONTE YOUNG, CHARLEMAGNE PALESTINE and others, he has been searching for new new music and has been working in the field of sound recording. ARIEL KALMA has become known for his minimal sound works using field recordings.Born in France, he played in many bands including HELDON, and worked as a sideman for the great Brazilian guitarist BADEN POWELL and the talented Belgian pop star SALVATORE ADAMO, In the mid 70's, he worked at PIERRE HENRY's INA GRM studio (INSTITUT NATIONAL AUDIOVISUEL, GROUPE DE RECHERCHES MUSICALES) and learned the music concrte. After releasing his masterpiece "OSMOSE", which was digitized from jungle recordings in Borneo, and a chance encounter with DON CHERRY in New York, he eventually established his own electro-acoustic ambient methodology that intersects machine patterns and field recordings. His music is free jazz, progressive rock, drone, minimalism, new age, meditation, and more. The textures of the dingy organ and pensive saxophone etched on rare private pressings and tiny cassettes, the electronic sounds that somehow feel human, tape feedback, echoes, and his own voice.Sounds and echoes as universal patterns that harmonize people, places, and environments. This is a rare sound source that finally reveals a part of the peculiar soundscape that Kalma has been aiming for, which transcends both popular music and academic experimental music, and ventures into the outer world and the inner world without any boundaries.Includes a 28-page booklet and more bonus tracks than the LP version.
